A Morning of Embodied Prayer, Sat. Aug. 27 9a-noon
All women+ of St. A's, however able-bodied, and female friends are invited to a morning of embodied prayer in the parish courtyard with the Rev. Judith Lyons. No RSVP needed.
Embodied Prayer engages our senses in the quiet of letting our bodies feel and know God more deeply.
How did you come to know God?
What is your first memory of feeling God’s presence?
Somewhere along the line most of us were taught to shift our trust from our bodies to our brains, and in doing so, we lost some of what we knew so well as children.
We will begin with gentle exercises waking up our physical selves, standing or sitting in chairs, whatever is comfortable, allowing gentle movement to become a prayer and conversation with Jesus. Then we will expand our prayer by moving with a few others, reflecting on the experience, and gradually begin moving together as one group, exploring the power of shared, embodied prayer.
Whatever your physical abilities or limitations may be - whether you are comfortable sitting, standing, walking or otherwise - everyone will be included, .
When the bell rings at noon, we will have shared silence, explored movement, felt new things, laughed, and reflected. May we then move into the rest of our day feeling lighter and freer and closer to God!
