On Sunday Oct 15, between services guest speaker Rachel Stich, Deputy Director of Safe Place for Youth, will be leading a forum on local homelessness among youth and young adults and the powerful interventions and supports SPY provides. SPY's mission is to inspire, nurture and empower the resilient human spirit of homeless youth by providing immediate and lasting solutions, one young person at a time.
To help with one of the immediate needs - hunger - St. A's has been preparing and serving home-cooked meals for SPY youth each month for many years, and recently began serving two meals a month. Could this be a ministry for you? Or, are there other ways we might want to extend our ministry with SPY?
Our guest, Rachel Stich, is SPY's Deputy Director, bringing to the organization over ten years of non-profit experience. Born and raised in Los Angeles, and a resident of Venice for the past 10 years, Rachel feels passionate about homeless and human rights issues. She recently spent time volunteering with local organization Chrysalis, participating in their Women's Empowerment Program, and has volunteered with other homeless organizations throughout Los Angeles for the past several years. Rachel holds a BA in Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations, and a minor in Sociology from San Diego State University. She is also a member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce.
