Guest Preacher: Angel Collie, Sunday Aug. 15
St. A's is blessed to welcome Angel Collie to the pulpit on Sunday August 15, preaching at both the 9am and 10:30am services. Angel (he/him/his) is the Assistant Director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at Duke University. He also serves on the board of The Freedom Center for Social Justice, as co-faculty for the Transgender Seminarian Leadership Cohort, and on the Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies Transgender Roundtable.
Angel holds an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School and is now pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry at Duke Divinity School, with a focus on pastoral care within queer and trans communities.
Angel's ministry with these communities began when he led the Metropolitan Community Church's (MCC) Transgender Ministries. There he co-authored a pioneering curriculum guiding congregations to become more welcoming and inclusive of transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary people and communities.
Angel's favorite thing is to travel globally, which he has done extensively, often through his work at the intersection of spirituality, sexuality and gender identity and expression. He lives in Chapel Hill, NC with his cat and two Australian Shepherds named Scooter and Scout.
