Parish Book-Read: "Inspired" by Rachel Held Evans, Aug 24 & Sept 14, 10:30am
All are invited to read and discuss Rachel Held Evans’ book Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water and Loving the Bible Again in which the author wrestles through the process of doubting, imagining, and debating Scripture's mysteries. The Bible, she discovers, is not a static work but is a living, breathing, captivating, and confounding book that is able to equip us to join God's loving and redemptive work in the world.
Evans, a best-selling author of books on faith and spirituality, died unexpectedly earlier this year at age 37, leaving a legacy of having challenged conservative Christianity and given voice to a generation of seekers wrestling with their faith.
The group will meet twice, from 10:30am-noon, in Pierson Hall:
Sat. Aug 24 -Chapters 1-4 (through p. 114)
Sat. Sept 14 - Chapters 5-8 (through p 221)
