"Won't You Celebrate with Me" - Black History Month Conversation, 12:30pm Sun. Feb. 13
Join us for a powerful conversation on our tangled history of a Christianity used to enslave people, and a faith embraced and reshaped in the service of Black resilience, courage and freedom.
Our guest speaker will be Victor Andre Greene (he/him) a Spoken Word Poet + United Church of Christ Minister + Founder of Room 305 + Community Developer. After serving at the first and only BIPOC pastor at the American Church in Paris, Victor founded Room 305, a gathering community that uses storytelling to prompt curiosity about ourselves and one another, to practice mindfulness, to seek wholeness, and form expansive ways to be together.
This special program's title comes from Lucille Clifton's poem, won't you celebrate with me, which you can find on poets.org or hear Lucille Clifton read on YouTube.
This event is brought to you by the Santa Monica parishes of First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church and St. Augustine by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Everyone is welcome!
